TCR FAQs

Q: Can I protect many extension phones with one Toll Call Restrictor or do I need one for each phone?
A: One TCR can protect all of the phones on one line as long as it is installed between all of the extension phones and the point where your phone line leaves your fuse block.  In-Other-Words the TCR must be installed between the phone company and all of the phones.
Q: How does the TCR know which calls to block?
A: The Toll Call Restrictor is preset to block all calls that begin with a 1 or a 0 since these represent most all toll calls.

Q: How does the TCR know which calls to allow?
A: The Toll Call Restrictor is preset to allow local 7 digit calls and any call(s) that you have programmed into the allowed memory of the unit.

Q: Is it difficult to install?
A: Not at all, Simply replace the two wires (the polarity doesn't matter) from your old jack and you're done. The unit works with all touch tone or pulse dial telephones and it won't effect the operation of your existing phone in nay way.

Q: How do I program the TCR?
A: The TCR is programmed through your existing telephone's keypad or dial using simple commands (TCR instructions). It's so easy anyone can do it. The TCR will retain your program even if it is disconnected from the line.

Q: What if it breaks?
A: The Toll Call Restrictor has no moving parts and is completely solid state. It has a full 1 year warranty and should last for years. Best of all the unit is completely undetectable so it's not likely to be bypassed or vandalized.

Q: We now have more than one area code that is a local phone call. Can the TCR be programmed to handle this?
A: It is easy to handle local calls with an area code by just programming the area code into the "allowed number" list. Calls that start with the area code but which are not preceded by a 1 or a 0 will be allowed. The TCR will still block calls to the area code if they are preceded with a 1 or 0.

Q: How can I purchase a Toll Call Restrictor?
A. See our ordering page.
